Sitting at your desk for a long time without a break is a bad habit to develop for your health. Challenge yourself by improving your old habits to new ones. It may not be easy at first to implement these 5 habits, but with some determination and discipline, you’ll be able to see the benefits of taking care of your health first is extremely important.

#1: Take mini-breaks.

Taking breaks in-between your 9 to 5 jobs, projects, or whatever it is you’re doing can help your brain recharge. Mini breaks can be just standing up and walking around your apartment or house. Play with your fur kids, your human kids, or bother your partner for a bit (I’m sure they wouldn’t mind this, but don’t quote me). Maybe even do a 15 to 30 minutes workout, whether that’s a brisk walk outside or core exercises. Breaks can also offer further focus and creativity.

#2: Drink more water.

We all know how vital water is to our bodies. If you would like to learn more about how water intake can affect your body and mind, click here.

#3: Walk the stairs.

Take the stairs instead of the elevator at your office and your apartment. If you live in a house, well there are only stairs, so you have no choice. However, if you are living in an apartment, try to avoid the elevators. Get those extra steps in and find it as a perfect opportunity to move around.

#4: Invest in a standing desk.

Whether you work from home or at the office, an opportunity to use a standing desk can definitely help add in better blood circulation when sitting down too often. I invested in buying a standing desk, and it has been one of the best investments ever. No regrets! I got mine at Ikea.

#5: Eat superfoods.

Choosing healthier whole foods to feed your body can help provide you with the proper energy sources to make it through your day. Avocados, beans, eggs, chicken, fruits, and salmons are some examples.
